At St Andrew’s Church, we believe the church belongs to everyone in our community—not just to those who attend services, but to the entire village. With this vision in mind, a team of Church members and community residents came together to build connections, foster friendships, and strengthen our collective spirit.
Coffee Mornings
To breathe new life into the Churchill Square Community Centre, we established a regular coffee morning. This welcoming space has become a hub for people in the area, including support from local partners like Gentoo. We’re also delighted to welcome residents from the Pavilion Care Home, who join us to enjoy companionship, homemade cakes, and lively games of bingo. Look out for the posters.
Our relationship with the care home extends beyond these gatherings. Each month, we visit the Pavilion to spend time with residents and support their events. The strong bond between St Andrew’s and the care home is a true testament to the spirit of community we cherish.
Social Events
From monthly outings to local attractions, sharing meals together (fish and chips are always a hit!), and enjoying theatre trips and pantomimes (Oh yes, we do!), our social events are a highlight for many. We organized a special pie and pea lunch with apple and chocolate crumble for dessert, which brought the community together and raised funds for meaningful causes and not forgetting our Fashion Show, for which models were flown in from the Milan Catwalk (er hum!).
Thanks to this event, we were able to make donations to St Andrew’s Church, Dubmire School, and the Royal British Legion. These moments of shared joy and generosity remind us of the incredible power of working together.

There’s plenty more in the pipeline, so keep an eye out for updates. We can’t wait to share what’s coming next!
If you or someone you know would enjoy being part of this vibrant community, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Together, we’re building something truly special.
